High-Performance Computing

Our HPC cluster enables efficient large-scale computations across various scientific fields, including physics, chemistry, biology, data science, and artificial intelligence.

We assist researchers with:

  • Climate and atmospheric modeling
  • Genetic and bioinformatics calculations
  • Physical and chemical simulations
  • Artificial intelligence and deep learning training
  • Data science and big data analysis

We offer:

  • Parallel computing with MPI, OpenMP, and CUDA
  • Large memory capacity for memory-intensive applications
  • Accelerated computing using GPU resources
  • Access to multiple software environments, including Python, R, MATLAB, C/C++

  • Virtualization and containerization options (Docker, Singularity)

Our infrastructure is suited for both small computational tasks and large-scale simulations requiring tens or even hundreds of CPU/GPU cores. Users can access a wide array of software and modular computing environments that streamline workflows and resource management.

Technical Infrastructure

HPC Cluster Specifications

Our HPC system consists of:

  • Primary management node with high availability
  • Compute nodes with CPU and GPU configurations
  • High-speed interconnects (InfiniBand, 10GbE)
  • Mass storage system

The cluster is managed using the Slurm job scheduler, which efficiently allocates resources and ensures fair usage among all users.

The University of Latvia High Performance Computing Center provides HPC resources and services to University of Latvia researchers, students, and collaborative partners. Our infrastructure delivers powerful computing clusters for solving complex scientific and engineering challenges.

Our team offers user support and training to help maximize the effectiveness of HPC resources. We also perform regular system upgrades to maintain a stable and modern computing environment.
